i think that’s a facile position to take when you yourself are white along with 80+% of the characters in comics. While there is truth in what you say, there is also truth in the opposite. Let’s try living in a world where only a rare few heroes are like you, and see how well you like it or how comfortable and condescending you are about it.
Yeah, it’s weird how people think, just because there’s a white character, who’s a little bit relateable for poc too, excuses the actual lack of superheroes of color for example.
Also I don’t think “relateable” is enough, for example imagine a little black boy: he doesn’t yet understand the trauma of loss or the burden of a heavy secret that of Peter Parker’s. Peter Parker is nothing like him! Miles Morales on the other hand: young black boy!!! And a Hero! He has skin like him, hair like him. Not only is Miles Morales relateable to our little boy, our little boy could BE Miles.
